Group therapy involves two co-facilitators and a varied number of participants. Group sizes usually range from 4-12 and may include females and males depending on the group topic. The two facilitators are experienced counsellors who's role is to facilitate the group's progress.
The sessions are not necessarily tailored to the individuals but instead to the needs of the group as a whole. Sessions are planned in advance by the facilitators. Each lesson is followed by an activity. Participants are encouraged, if they feel comfortable, to share with the group how they experienced an activity. These exchanges often have a therapeutic value and build ties between clients.
